Truffle Boxes

Is there anything more amazing and delicious than truffles?  You know you love them, just say it.  I won't tell anyone.  Truffle boxes can be evil little things though can't they?  Because I never want to be two hundred pounds, I prefer to buy my truffles loose.  You can do this by stopping buy your local truffle shop and picking out one or two of these high calorie devils to satisfy your sweet tooth.  However, my husband, being the amazing man that he is, loves to buy me treats.  More often than not, he does not follow my one or two truffles at a time method and often shows me how much he loves me by buying me a delicious truffle box.

                So who does it best?  That's what we all want to know.  Personally, I feel in love with the boxes of truffles at Harrods in London on a trip back in 2005.  The make the most delicious Valrhona truffle boxes that I can't seem to find anywhere online.  So, if you manage to make your way to Harrods anytime soon, pick yourself up some truffles.  If you don't see yourself in London anytime soon and you're in need of a chocolate fix, try two of my backup favorite truffle boxes; Vosages Exotic Truffles and Godiva Truffles.

                Vosages exotic truffles are a little pricey, I'll admit that.  Their largest exotic truffle box runs about 75 dollars.  But oh my goodness they are worth every single chocolaty delicious penny.  My personal favorites out of this collection are the Aztec Truffles and the Wink of the Rabbit Truffles.  The Aztec Truffles are amazing variations of dark and milk chocolate that are infused with Mexican vanilla bean, Argentinean Dulce de Leche, Ceylon Cinnamon and ancho chilies.  The chilies sound weird, I know.  I promise it works.  If you're not feeling that adventurous though, try the Wink of the Rabbit truffles.  Chocolate, caramel, and a light sprinkle of sea salt.  Enough said.

                Maybe you're not ready for Vosages yet.  Maybe it scares your palate a little.  That's okay.  Go to the good old standby; Godiva.  My absolute all time favorite is their seasonal pumpkin truffle.  It makes me feel like fall is really here.  I feel like my grandma just baked me the best chocolate drizzled pumpkin pie ever.  If you want a cool summer treat, try the key lime truffle.  Sweet and tart, there is nothing more delicious when it's hot outside.

Now that you've read this, get off the computer and go get yourself some truffles.  If you buy the whole box, no one will know.
