Candy Truffles

Candy Truffles are mouth watering confections. They are made of chocolate and cream.

Delicious candy truffles are truly toffee lover's delight. Be it on a birthday bash or a Christmas celebration if we add these truffles to the menu, they are always a special attraction for the guests.

Truffles are generally small bite-sized chocolates. The cream and chocolate combination is sometimes called ganache. These small bite-sized chocolates are rolled either in cocoa powder or they are dipped in chocolate. The cocoa powder gives a nice look to the truffle. These give a smooth mesmerizing effect when chewed. Because of its taste the truffles are always a favorite item for children.

Candy truffles are very easy to prepare.

Ingredients:

ŸHeavy cream - ½ cup

ŸButter - as per the taste

ŸCandy canes - 5

ŸChocolate coating

ŸSemi-sweet chocolate

 

Procedure:

 

  • Chop the semi-sweet chocolate in a clean pan. Put on the stove on medium heat. Let the chocolate melt, stir it evenly.

 

  • Take another clean pan and put on the stove. Pour heavy cream into the pan and mix it evenly on the pan. Allow the heavy cream to settle down and heat on a medium heat. When the cream boils and bubbles appear pour the cream on the chopped chocolate. Melt butter and pour it into this mixture. Stir slowly.
  • Cut candy canes into small pieces and crush it in a food processor.
  • Add the crushed candy canes, almost all pieces, to the ganache and stir it evenly.
  • Place the entire mixture in the refrigerator and allow it to cool. Take care the mixture is not too hard.
  • Remove the contents from the fridge and make small-bite sized shapes. Place all of them in an even plate.
  • Mean while take handful of cocoa powder in a bowl. Roll each piece of these small bite-sized shapes in the cocoa powder and place them in a separate plate. Continue this with the rest.
  • Delicious cocoa coated truffles are ready to eat.
  • These truffles should be stored in the refrigerator in air tight containers.

 

  • These are very easy to make and the ingredients are not very expensive. All the stuff can be bought in a nearby store. As the truffle is made of heavy cream and butter, the truffle may not last longer for months. So it is better to eat them within a week after preparation.
